The Wofford Chapter of Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity and the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation are excited to announce the 11th Annual Hornet Hoops Charity Invitational Basketball Tournament to raise funds to benefit the athletics department at the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind.

The charity event is scheduled for Friday, April 22, 2022, 6:00 p.m. in the Ben Johnson Arena at Wofford College.  The basketball tournament is a three-on-three tournament with the winning team taking home a $300 cash prize.  Registration for a team is $30 and includes registration, t-shirt & dinner.  Teams must be made up of 3 people between the ages of 15 and 24 years old.  Tickets are also available for $10 and include dinner.  Sponsorships are available for the tournament.  For more information or to become a sponsor, go to www.scsdbfoundation.org or phone 864-577-7583.  To register a team, please contact Ellis Greene at 864-490-7949 or greeneej@wofford.edu.

SC School for the Deaf and the Blind offers 12 sports to the students to attend school here and 76% of students participate in at least one sport.  The money donated by the fraternity through this basketball tournament is vital to ensuring these players have the equipment they need to succeed.  The tournament has helped the school purchase equipment and pay for expenses when the school’s sports teams travel to tournaments.

“This tournament was started because of a shared love of sports and fraternity members past experience with the school,” said Weslie Higdon, Director of Development of the SC School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation.  “We are so grateful the members of Pi Kappa Alpha at Wofford continue to carry on the dream of the students who originally started the tournament.  Their support has been invaluable to our athletics department.”
