On October 1 at 10:00 a.m., the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation (SCSDB Foundation) will proudly host a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a brand-new, accessible greenhouse, in support of the school's "Cultivating Careers" program. This event will take place behind the Applied Academic Center (AAC), located at 355 Cedar Springs Road, Spartanburg, SC 29302.
With the backing of eight funders, the "Cultivating Careers" program was implemented in 2025 to enhance educational and vocational opportunities for SCSDB students. The new greenhouse signifies a pivotal step forward in engaging, empowering and equipping students for success in a sustainable and inclusive environment.
This ceremony marks the first opportunity to introduce the greenhouse to the community. School administrators, teachers, staff, students, donors and media are invited to celebrate this achievement.
“This new greenhouse will serve as a dynamic learning space, tailored to meet the needs of our students,” said Sam Hook, Executive Director of the SCSDB Foundation. “It is designed to be fully accessible, ensuring that every student can participate in hands-on learning experiences that promote career readiness in agriculture and horticulture.”
